On Tuesday, September 4th the Bel Air Bobcat’s Varsity Golf Team won the Chesapeake Division Tournament that took place at Bulle Rock, in Havre de Grace, MD. Bulle Rock is recognized as one of the top public golf course in the United States and, as expected, the course was in great shape. While the course itself can be quite tough for even the most experienced golfer, the gusty wind on Tuesday was what really made the course really challenging.
The total score for the Bobcats was 218; they shot 16 strokes better than the next closest team, which was North Harford at 234. The Bobcats best score of the day was by team Captain Matt Hottman who shot 40. Matt Hottman score won him the individual award for the best score at the tournament. When asked about how he felt about winning the individual award he said” It feels good.”
The next best score of the day for the Bobcats was Sam Foss who came in with a 43. Nick Loiodice shot a 44, Tyler Newton shot a 45, Bill Dearth shot a 46, and Nick Rynes Shot a 47. Bel Air was the only team that had all their players shoot under 50. Seven other teams participated in the tournament, C.Miltion, Fallston, Perryville, North East, North Harford, Rising Sun and Patterson Mill.
Following his teams impressive win Coach Doyle stated, “The hot humid muggy conditions didn’t stop us from playing solid and fundamental golf on one of the most premier courses in all the area.” The Bobcats are still undefeated on the season, a streak the team hopes to keep going.
