The Bel Air Bobcats Varsity Golf Team has started the season off with a bang. The Bobcats are off to an undefeated start in their first three matches of the year. Their first match of the season took place on August 21, 2012 at Winters Run Golf Course. In the match against Patterson Mill Matt Hottman shot a 3 under par 33 and Nick Loidice shot an even par round of 36 strokes for the victorious Bobcats. All three of the other Bobcat golfers shot a shot 41 in the match. Bel Air’s total score was 192 while Patterson Mills’ total score was 243.
The next match took place on August 23, 2012 at Winters Run, also. The Bobcats defeated both North Harford and Fallston High Schools in the match. Bel Air’s Matt Hottman, Nick Loidice, and Bill Dearth all shot an one over par round of 37 on the day. Cody Smith shot a 41 while Nick Rynes shot a 40. Bel Air’s total score for the day was 192 while North Harford’s total was 228 and Fallston’s total was 232.
Bel Air’s third match of the season took place on August 30, 2012 at Furnace Bay Golf Course in Perryville. The match was against Harford Tech and Perryville. Bel Air was once again led by Matt Hottman, who shot a 1 under par round of 35, while both Tyler Newton and Nick Loidice shot a round of 39. Bill Dearth posted a round of 40 with Cody Smith shooting a round of 45. Bel Air’s total score was 198, Harford Tech’s final score was 234 and Perryville’s was 240.
While channeling his inner Bill Murray, Coach Doyle stated, “The crowd has gone deadly silent. Cinderella story. The Bel Air Bobcats, out of nowhere, now about to become Masters Champions.” The Bobcats will next play again on September 4, 2012 at Bulle Rock in the Chesapeake Division Tournament.
