Varsity Football Team Picks Up a Win in Havre de Grace

On Friday, October 28th, the Bel Air High School varsity football team (3-6) took the trip over to Havre de Grace (4-5) to take on the Warriors in a Chesapeake Divisional game. The Bobcats won in a hard fought battle by the score of 28-22.

 Havre de Grace gained the lead on a touchdown pass with 11 minutes left in the game. After that, the score was 22-15. The Bobcats answered with 2 touchdowns, one on a pass from Ryan Monardo to Ben Webber and the other, to take the lead, on an Alex Love run. Rushing touchdowns came from Alex Love, Joe Denver, and Mike Adams. Juwan Singletary from for 131 yards on 22 carries. Justin DeMichael had 11 tackles and Matt Buettner had 10 tackles. In the secondary, Derek Freels intercepted a pass and Mike Adams broke up 4 passes. In the first half, Joe Denver knocked in a 30 yard field goal. “I am very proud of the team for their efforts throughout the entire season. We have had some bad luck with injuries and some unfortunate outcomes to games and they continually come back and give me everything they have,” says coach David Huryk on the 2011 football season. Bel Air’s final game is on November 4th at Bobcat Stadium in Bel Air vs C. Milton Wright. Tickets are $3 for students and $4 for adults.
