Sorry NBA fans, you’ll have to wait at least 2 weeks longer until the beginning of the 2011-2012 Regular Season. The New York Daily News reported Monday that NBA Commissioner David Stern announced the cancelling of 2 more weeks of the regular season. This now totals the entire Preseason, and the first 4 weeks of the regular season. The regular season was set to begin on November 1st, but with the labor meeting and negotiations not being able to accomplish much, the date for the beginning of the season remain “up in the air”.
Although the NBA doesn’t receive quite as much attention as the NFL or the MLB, NBA die-hards can still only hope that a new bargaining agreement will be reached. Unfortunately, with the amount of players leaving to play overseas in foreign leagues, and the amounts of games being cancelled already, more harsh news may be on the horizon.
