Varsity Football Falls Short in Homecoming Game

On Thursday, October 20th, the New Town High School varsity football team (6-1) traveled to Bobcat stadium to face the Bel Air football team (2-5) in the Homecoming game. The Bobcats were hoping to pick up a big win in a slightly disappointing season. Unfortunately, Bel Air wasn’t able to pick up the win. The end score was 32-0.

Bel Air started off the game with a turnover. One minute into the 1st quarter,
cornerback Steve Henson intercepted a New Town pass. Bel Air wasn’t able to
take advantage of the turnover and couldn’t score a touchdown. New Town scored
the first touchdown and made the extra point, making the score 7-0. New Town
scored again with 6 minutes left in the 1st quarter, and after the
extra point the score was 14-0. Neither team managed to score in the 2nd
quarter. The Titans started off the 2nd half with a touchdown. They
weren’t able to add an extra point so the score was 20-0. Halfway through the 3rd
quarter, Bel Air forced and recovered a fumble. They drove down to the field to
the 10 yard line, but quarterback Ryan Monardo’s pass got intercepted in the
end zone. New Town scored a touchdown with a minute left in the 3rd
quarter. They were stopped on the conversion, bringing the score to 26-0. The
only other touchdown in the game was scored by the Titans. The final score was
32-0.
