Athlete of the Week: Nat Hand, Soccer

Junior soccer player Nat Hand has been named The Bellarion’s Athlete of the Week.  In the Men’s Varsity Soccer team’s game against Patterson Mill Nat scored the lone goal in the Bobcat’s 1-0 victory with under 5 minutes remaining in the game.

 

1. How long have you been playing soccer?

I’ve been playing soccer for 11 years.

2. Do you have any plans for college?

-I would like to go to a 4 year college so I can play soccer. I also want to get my degree in business.

3. Do you have a different feeling playing in front of an audience than in front of family and friends?

-With an audience, it is more exciting rather than playing in front of friends and family.

4. What is your biggest accomplishment?

-Making Varsity as a freshman.

5. How do you set your goals?

-When I see something I want, I work hard to achieve that goal.

6. Do you have a saying or motto you live your life by?

-“When things get hard, you start looking for something to blame, like a big shadow. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are, it will be you to you to your knees, and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can hit and keep moving forward.”

7. What got you started?

-My dad got me involved in soccer at a young age and I just fell in love with it ever since.

8. How much do you practice each day?

-5 days a week, 2 hours a day.

9. What is the best advice you were ever given?

-My dad always told me, “Hard work pays off in the end.”

10. What are your other hobbies?

-Playing the guitar, and surfing in the summer, and snowboarding in the winter.
