On Friday, October 7th, the Bel Air Varsity Football team traveled to North Harford to face the Hawks. Bel Air lost 34-19. It was a good effort for the then 2-3 Bobcats playing against 18th ranked North Harford.
Bel Air started off the game strong. They kicked off to North Harford and immediately forced and recovered a fumble. The fumble lead to a touchdown and an extra point, putting Bel Air in the lead 7-0. North Harford answered with 2 touchdowns of their own, one occurring with 8 and a half minutes left in the 1st quarter and the other with 3 and a half minutes left. The Hawks made 1 of 2 extra points. At the end of the quarter, the score was 13-7. North Harford tallied another touchdown 2 minutes into the 2nd quarter. After the blocked extra point attempt, the score was 19-7. With 1 and a half minutes left in the half, Bel Air forced and recovered a fumble for the second time in the game. A minute later, Alex Love ran for a long touchdown, and after a missed extra point, the score was 19-13. The teams traded punts for the better part of the 3rd quarter. With one minute left in the 3rd quarter, North Harford scored a touchdown and converted on the 2 point conversion making the score 27-13. North Harford scored again halfway through the 4th quarter and added the extra point bringing the score to 34-13. The Bobcats managed to add one more touchdown but it was too little too late. The final score after the missed extra point was 34-19.
