Varsity Football: Bel Air Falls to Fallston in Close Game

Fallston took the short trip to Bobcat Stadium on Friday, September 23rd  to take on the
Bel Air Bobcats in Varsity Football action. Bel Air was hoping to bounce back
from a tough loss to rival school Patterson Mill last week. Unfortunately, the
Bobcats weren’t able to top the undefeated Cougars and took another tough loss.

Fallston was the first to score in the game with 9:48 left in
the first quarter. They added the extra point to make the score 7-0. With 3
minutes left in the quarter, Fallston blocked and recovered a Bel Air punt. Bel
Air started to make a comeback a minute into the second quarter. Alex Love ran
85 yards with a kickoff for a touchdown. Bel Air kicked the extra point,
cutting the Fallston lead in half to 14-7. Love scored again halfway into the
second quarter with a touchdown run. The addition of the extra point evened the
score at 14-14. Fallston answered 3 minutes later with a touchdown and extra
point. The score was then 21-14. Bel Air’s last shot at winning came with a
minute and a half in the fourth quarter. Fallston intercepted the pass on their
own 2 yard line. The Cougars ran out the clock to win the game 21-14. Bel Air’s
real standout player was Alex Love totaling over 100 yards rushing. He also
scored both of the Bobcats’ touchdowns.
