Fall is among us Bobcats! It is in this time that we prepare for the cooling weather, falling leaves, and pumpkin spiced everything. With the influx of holidays, it’s important that we adjust to the changes of the season. Below, I’ve listed some tips to stay healthy and happy during the fall and winter seasons.

Time Changes: On Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017 Daylight Saving Time ends. Make sure that you turn your clocks back one hour. Nothing says “Hello fall” better than being late.

Immunizations: Consider getting a flu shot. A single trip to the doctors could save you a few weeks of suffering from sore throats and stuffy noses. As a side note, also consider taking the steps to avoid catching a cold. Try upping your intake of yogurt and orange juice to give your immune system a boost.

Get Outside: I know, it seems weird, I’m telling you to get outside even with the chilly weather. However, according to Harvard Medical School, getting outside can increase Vitamin D levels while simultaneously making you happier. Plus, all those colorful fall leaves can make for a pretty picture.

Candy Overload: Despite how tempting it may be, try not to binge eat your favorite holiday candies. It may make you feel good at the time but you’ll be regretting it later on. Take it slow and make it last, fall is full of fun seasonal treats.

Fresh Foods: When buying your groceries check out the fresh seasonal fruits and veggies. Fall veggies are great roasted with just olive oil, salt, and pepper. Also consider buying from farmers markets, as you’re not only buying fresh, but you’re also supporting our local farmers.

Clothing Changes: This is prime time sweater weather, Bobcats! Break out all those sweatshirts, yoga pants, and cozy sweaters. As the weather cools though, make sure you’re still dressing appropriately!

Here’s to a happy fall Bobcats! I hope these tips will help make yours a little brighter!
