Black Friday: Successful Shopping Day

Ali Nesbitt

Ahh… Black Friday. Crazy people, crazy deals, and no parking spaces. What urges us to go out on Thanksgiving night and wait in ridicuously long lines, fight the cold and other shoppers, and possibly risk our lives for presents?

Whether one goes out to buy gifts for their own needs or for their loved ones, the deals are a major factor into the hype of Black Friday, bringing in anywhere from 20 to 40 percent of annual income for major stores. Stores are well aware of the shoppers willing to wait in the cold for anything, and they are ready. One can get a Panasonic  50 in. HD television for $199.99 at Best Buy. That’s $350 down from the original price of $549.9. One can save $72.99 on Beats by Dre Solo HD Drenched Headphones at Target from the original price of $169.99 to simply $97.

Not only are there great deals in stores, but Black Friday’s sister day, Cyber Monday, applies to the low key people who don’t want to wait in line or fight over clothes. They would rather get the great deals online from the comfort of their own home. Walmart is having great sales on kids toys, including exclusive Disney’s Frozen merchandise. The perks of shopping online include a wide variety of anything, from sizes to colors, that stores just cannot always include. People can also shop at stores that are not located in their area.  Amazon is having great sales along with Ebay and many other online sites. So, if you prefer online shopping, you’re too tired to wait in line, it’s too cold to leave the house, your alarm didn’t go off―whatever the case may be, there is always a second chance for you to find all of your Holiday needs.

Many people disagree with the idea of Black Friday because they state that it is too dangerous. In the past, seven people have died from the Black Friday shopping experience. Some people even argue that shoppers leave their families early to go shopping, completely disposing the idea of Thanksgiving and spending time with loved ones. But the truth is, there are fights over the littlest things every single day. Of course Black Friday is dangerous, but as long as the shopper is level headed and doesn’t goade on other shoppers, anyone can and will have a successful Black Friday. As for the people that go out on a hunt for deal early, they typically hold their Thanksgiving dinners in the afternoon around 2 or 3 p.m. That way, they can spend some quailty time with their families, and even get some presents for them at a decent price as well.

So go out for the deals or simply go out with some friends and watch the crazieness unfold. Who knows, you may find the best gift for your family or friends at an amazingly low price. Be the king or queen of the holiday season this year and start shopping early, and you will get the best gifts for the best prices. Good luck and be safe shoppers!
