Former Bel Air Middle School Language Arts teacher, Christina O’Neill peacefully passed away at the age of 47 on Saturday, September 22nd, 2018 surrounded by the ones she loved and held close.

Throughout her career, which started in 1994, she had reached out and inspired as many students as she could. She was even recognized for going to such great lengths back in 2012-2013 when she was named the Harford Teacher of the Year, an extremely prestigious award to hold.

To try and summarize all the things that she had done for others as a teacher, mother of two, and friend to so many in simply one article would not serve her the justice she deserves. The only thing that can is the memories that she left behind with the people that knew her.

“Christina taught with expertise and artistry. She shared her knowledge and gave from her heart. She treated her students with respect, encouragement, and kindness in the classroom and spoke about them with hope, compassion, and love in private.”- Coworker, Mr. Elliott

These qualities are often taken for granted in the teaching field but for somebody to truly care for their students and go out of their way to try and make a student’s day better is remarkable and should never go unnoticed.

She is survived by her husband and two daughters, and the entire community of people she was able to touch with dedication to teaching.

As an entire school, we send our condolences out to the O’Neill family and hope they find peace and clarity during this troubling time.
