The 2nd Annual Erin Drumm Book Drive

Justin Dow

The second annual Erin Drumm book drive will run through December 15, 2017 at Bel Air High School to commemorate Erin Drumm, who passed away 2 years ago from cancer.

Erin Drumm went to Edgewood Middle School and then North Harford High School for their agricultural program, before her untimely death. In her memory, the National Honor Society is hosting this event, to help kids stuck in hospitals during the holiday season. New or gently used books can be brought into your English class or the main office, but they should be appropriate for ages 8 to 18. All books will be donated to the cancer section of the Upper Chesapeake hospital.

This is the time to get rid of those books you loved as a kid and know will make another kid’s day. They don’t have much in the hospital, so bring in your favorite books and maybe it will give another child good memories just like it did for you.

Caden Ritchey, a student at Bel Air High school, stated ” I was only in the hospital for a week in December, I can’t imagine what these kids are going through.”

Being a kid stuck in the hospital is hard, especially over the holidays. This is the best time of the year for most kids so let’s try to make it as good as possible. It is always good to help the community, but making kid’s holidays better puts a smile to every face. If you have an old but good condition book you don’t even read anymore, bring it, it could really make a kid’s day.
