Food Drive Recap

Friday, Nov. 8, 2016, was the last day for the annual food drive at Bel Air High School. The goal was set at collecting 3,000 items to donate to families in need of a Thanksgiving dinner. The total number of items that were collected far exceeded that goal.

Bel Air High School’s Special Education department was in charge of storing and counting all of the items that were donated by the students. The department, including students, spent the school day on Friday counting and sorting.

“The students did an amazing job collecting food. Considerable effort from the whole school went into making this operation successful again.” Says Mrs. Pollard, special education teacher at BAHS.

The food that was donated and collected was donated to St. Margaret’s Church located in downtown Bel Air. The church focused on the distribution of the food to families. In total, 75 families in the area were gifted with a Thanksgiving meal.

The food drive was sponsored by Bel Air’s National Honor Society. This school wide effort made a huge impact on families this holiday season.
