9-11-2On Sept. 9, 2016, the SGA and students of Bel Air High School gathered to put out flags in the front yard of the school as a symbol of the 2,997 victims of the tragedy that shook the country, and the world, a little over a decade ago. Each of the 2,997 flags represent one victim from that terrible day. This is the fifth year that the SGA has done this.

Two hijacked planes flew into the twin towers, another flew into the Pentagon and the fourth plane crashed into a rural field in Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001 in a horrific attack of violence.

“Putting out the flags is a good way to remember those who lost their life on that tragic day.” Says SGA Senator Caitlyn Magee. “It is an important tradition that we are proud to uphold and continue for many years.”

The events that took place fifteen years ago are horrific and will never be forgotten. The brave and extraordinary men and women who sacrificed their lives to save others will always be remembered.
