Get Ready for Graduation Speeches

Conner Hires

Graduation is rapidly approaching for the Class of 2016, and the teachers have selected the students who will speak during the ceremony. On Thursday, June 2, 2016, Mary Talbard and Lena Sierocinski will read the speeches that they have prepared to the proud students, parents, and teachers at graduation.

Students had until May 3 to submit their speeches to Mr. Smith and Mrs. Taylor, and on the next day, they gathered in Mr. Smith’s room to read their speeches to the panel of teachers. After careful consideration, Mr. Smith, Mrs. Taylor, Mr. Bowden, Ms. Matthews, Mrs. Tackett, Mrs. McDonough, Mrs. Stanton, and Mrs. Benfield announced on May 5 that Mary Talbard and Lena Sierocinski would read their speeches on Graduation.

Ms. Tackett said that the panel was so attracted to their speeches because: “They were both very well written, and Lena’s in particular is very unique, being the first poem that was submitted as a speech. Both speeches also had a very positive reflection of the students’ past, present, and future.”

Be sure to fight off your senioritis long enough to congratulate Lena and Mary. Just a little bit longer seniors, you can do this!
