The HCPS College and Career Fair will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wed, Oct. 14, at the APGFCU Arena at Harford Community College.

Over 120 in and out of state colleges and universities will be present at the fair such as University of Maryland, Towson University, and Virginia Tech. Representatives of the armed forces including the United States Army Reserves, the United States Marines, and the United States Navy will also be present. In addition to the presentation by universities and the Armed Forces, the Greater Excellence in Education Foundation will be giving presentations on various career fields such as arts, engineering, and the construction industry. There will be two seminars during the fair, a NCAA/ NJCAA student athlete eligibility seminar from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and a financial aid seminar from 7:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Both are free and will offer excellent advice for students and parents alike.

School guidance counselor, Mr. Riley said, “I think this is a perfect opportunity for students to be exposed to many of the colleges and universities available to them and/or get an idea of what kind of career field they may want to go into.”

Patrons of the fair will receive a complimentary bag and directory as well as HCPS School Counselors on staff to answer questions and provide directions to specific presentations. After the fair, it would be wise to add any colleges you were interested in to your “Colleges I’m Thinking About” list on Naviance. If you have found a field you are interested in but are still unsure of which college would be right for you, you can use the website’s search engines to find more information.
