Do you remember how excited you were to move from preschool to kindergarten? The excitement that awaited in making new friends and learning new things and just being a big kid? That’s exactly what has been buzzing in the Lil’ Bobcats Preschool for the past few weeks in the 4 year old classes. All 8 of the children are looking forward to a new adventure when they go to elementary school.

The 4 year olds graduated from the preschool on Wednesday, May 13 in the library at 9:15. Donning cardboard caps decorated with stickers and scribbles and miniature graduation gowns, the children marched to ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ in front of their parents, siblings, and teachers from the Working with Children 2 class.

Superlatives were handed out to the children, each praising a child for their bubbly personality or willingness to help out a friend in need. Then, gifts were handed out to the parents by the kids: inside were pictures of the children in their caps. Each child also received miniature diplomas for their accomplishments in the preschool for the past two years.

Families walked back to the preschool to enjoy some refreshments such as fruit, donuts and a special graduation cake. All of the children sat at their seats and talked about kindergarten and some even played with their favorite toys for the last time. Parents talked about how much their children have grown in the past few years and reminisced. Meanwhile, a slideshow played in the background with pictures of the kids from when they were 3 year olds to recent pictures from this year.

Preschoolers left with a final goodbye and the classroom was suddenly quiet. Lil’ Bobcats was now out of session for this school year and will start again in the fall with a brand new group of 3 year olds and the 3’s from this year moving up to become big-kid 4 year olds.

The teachers from the program wish all of the children the best of luck at their elementary schools! It won’t be the same without you, but you’ll all have so much fun in kindergarten.
