Quidditch Disappears Into the Fog

The 2nd Annual Quidditch Match was cancelled on Nov. 5, and will be rescheduled for later in the spring.

Quidditch was originally scheduled for Tue., Nov. 26, 2013. After getting rained out, the tournament was re-scheduled for the following week on Thu., Nov. 5. The day finally arrived and the school was buzzing with excitement until that afternoon in 4th period when an announcement was made, cancelling the Quidditch match once more.

Although there was mass disappointment, the cancellation was justified. Looking out the window at 2 P.M, the field goal posts weren’t visible due to immense amounts of fog.

“At 1:30 P.M, I stood in the stadium at the goal post, and I couldn’t see the other one. For the safety of the students playing as well as those driving, I decided it would be in everyone’s best interest to cancel the game.”  Mr. Blackburn, the coordinator for after school duties, said.

The SGA is considering waiting to reschedule Quidditch until the spring, but nothing has been set in stone. Students were very upset on the night of Dec. 5, because at about 6 p.m., the sun came out and the fog went away. Unfortunately, it was too late to call the game back on.

“If you read the book, or even watch the movies, you would see that the wizards played in any and every weather, fog or rain. I think we should have Quidditch as soon as humanly possible,” said BAHS Junior and, “snitch,” for the tournament, Ethan Brito.

As of now, a decision on the date for the 2013-14 Quidditch tournament is still undecided. However don’t put down your brooms yet, Bobcats, because there is still a lot of school year left!
