Using Social Media to Share the News

The Bellarion has recently created an account on Instgram to go along with their  Twitter and Facebook accounts where students and teachers of Bel Air High School can go to get information on games that they missed, upcoming events and, new policies involving the school and new cover stories from the Bellarion.

Teenagers these days are very connected to the internet, especially social networking. Twitter, Intagram, and Facebook are all commonly used by almost all of the students at Bel Air High School. The Bellarion has an account on all of these sites, and already having a following of students.  The accounts provide updates, reminders, and photos of things going on in and around Bel Air High School.

Intsagram is used by the Bellarion to take and post pictures of things happening after and around the school, such as BAHS games, assemblies in the school, and things happening in the Bel Air area. Twitter is also used to provide the students all of these things, but is not a photo based account like Instagram. On Twitter, things like updates on scores during students’ games, and quick reminders are posted. You can see them while scrolling down your newsfeed, or by just going to The Bellarion’s page. Facebook is a lot similar to twitter, and their posts involve all of the information that can be found on the regular news site.

Austin Sbarra, Co-Editor in Chief of The Bellarion said, “We use these accounts because we can interact with students easier, if someone missed the football game for example, they can scroll down their newsfeed to see the results and it’s easier for them.”

All of the accounts are under the name of “thebellarion” ; just type this in to your search bar and click the follow button!  Stories by The Bellarion are also sometimes posted on these sites as links, so you don’t have to go to all the way to the Bellarion site to read them, you can just click the link and it leads you there.

Mr. Blackburn, the BAHS advisor of The Bellarion said, “Students these days are using social media as a way to receive news. We understand that students are most likely not going to type in “The Bellarion” online to go view our stories, but if we can take the stories and post it on twitter, or with a photo on Intsagram, students can become involved using the social networking sites they use the most.”

Make sure you follow these accounts to keep you updated with all the newest information dealing with the school and the students.
