Environthon Team Prepares For Competition

Tyler Kirk, Staff Writer

On February 19th, 2022, the Envirothon club will start its first competition of the year. The Envirothon club is one of the few clubs to still be up and running in person, with weekly tests provided to all members. The event itself may or may not be in person; it is still undecided.

The competition is based around one subject that changes yearly; this year it’s ‘waste to resources’ where students find a solution to reducing food waste in hcps. There will also be a second competition at the end of the year that is based on a field competition where they are assessed in aquatics, soil, wildlife, and forestry knowledge.  Each school in the county (those that could get enough people together) are partaking, including Harford Christian school. At the end of the year, after the second competition, the winners will receive scholarship money.
