The Boy

Jaylynn Magdaleno

Rated: PG-13

The Boy is a 2016 film about an American girl name Greta who takes a nanny job for an 8 year old boy. When she arrives to the house, to her surprise the 8 year old boy is actually a doll, which the parents take care of just as a human. This is due to the death of their son 20 years prior.

Greta has a list of instructions that she must follow daily, in order to “satisfy” the eight year old boy. When she violates these rules, strange things begin to happen, leading her to believe that the doll is very much alive.

After Greta gets a sucrose visit from someone, that night the doll was scarier than ever.

I think the doll they chose for the movie is a perfect fit, just creepy enough to have you keep watching. Overall the movie was a success, and although it didn’t keep me up all night with nightmares, it had me sprinting back to my seat from the bathroom so I wouldn’t miss anything!
