On Friday, September 7, 2018, Rapper Mac Miller passed away due to overdosing on drugs.

Malcolm James McCormick (Mac Miller) was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on January 19, 1992. Both of his parents belonged to different religious beliefs; his mom was Jewish, while his dad was Christian. Miller was raised as Jewish and even had a Bar Mitzvah.

Throughout his childhood, he had a great interest in music, and at the age of 14 he released his first album ‘But My Mackin’ Ain’t Easy’ and was a part of a rap group called ‘The Ill Spoken’ along with another famous Pittsburgh rapper, Beedie. In 2009 he participated in an MC competition and was in the final four in Rhyme Calisthenics.

In 2010, his popularity began to sky rocket when he signed for ‘Rostrum Records’ and later that year he went on his first tour ‘The Incredibly Dope Tour’ and sold out every location he performed for. During that year, he accumulated 2 Pittsburgh awards.

After 4 years of being signed to Rostrum Records, Miller cut ties with them and started his own personal record label with Warner Bros. Records called, “REMember Music” for a sum of 10 million dollars. The majority of the music he released were hits. While all of this was happening, he was dating singer Ariana Grande. They were featured together in the songs ‘The Way” and “My Favorite Part.”

Throughout his career he suffered from alcohol and drug abuse and often spoke about it in most of his albums. On September 7, 2018 he was found dead in Studio City, CA. Though his autopsy has been completed, it is still unknown what drug killed him

Mac Miller was a great artist and his music will carry on forever.
