Free Comic Book Day

Logan Burnett, A&E Editor

This upcoming Saturday, May 6, 2017, is national Free Comic Book Day. That means that almost all comic book stores across the United States will be celebrating, giving out free comics and usually having nerdy festivities.

Our local comic shop, Collector’s Corner, located on Main Street in Bel Air will most definitely be reveling, with the store opening at 9:00 a.m. Generally, lines begin to form outside the door before sundown on the night before, and end up stretching down the street and around the block. Every person who shows up is guaranteed 25 free comic books; the first 50 people will also receive a tote bag with various goodies and a chance to win a $100 shopping spree. As well as all of this, the first 25 people in line will get free tickets for a showing of Guardians the Galaxy Vol. 2 for Saturday night. There will also be a storewide sale and free food.

Last year was a lot of fun with a huge turnout. The first 50 people in line not only received the previously mentioned prizes, but also free breakfasts from Chick Fila. Not only is this a great, entertaining event, but it is also a wonderful way to support your community and local businesses. So Bobcats, get your nerdy selves down to Collector’s Corner this Saturday (or rather Friday night), and get some free stuff!
