Bobcats Succeed in Reflections Art Contest

Earlier this month, the results of the Reflections Art Contest were revealed. The theme of the 2015-2016 school year was “Let Your Imagination Fly.”

The categories of this contest include dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and the visual arts. Congratulations to Bel Air students Amanda Chen for placing first in The Visual Arts Category, with Gabriella Sellaro in second place, and Ashley English in third. Ariel Brown received Honorable Mention, and Christian Beil placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the photography category.

“I tell myself to let my imagination fly when writing and sketching,” stated Rachel Perry, the creator of the “Let Your Imagination Fly” theme. She hoped the theme would make students really explore their creativity, making something truly original.

The purpose of this contest is to allow students to use their creativity to make true works of art following the given theme and compete against other students. All different styles of art are welcomed into this contest.

“Their entries will now go on to the County Level to be judged with the other winners from each school at the high school level,” said Art Teacher Mrs. Will.

Artwork is first recognized in the school level PTA, and judged in 5-level divisions before being sent to council and districts for consideration. Students’ artwork will then be critiqued and judged against artwork created by other students in the same category. They will be judged with students from other schools in the County.

Bel Air High School has proved quite the talent at home, with great students coming forward with their outstanding work. Round of applause to everyone who competed, and congratulations to the students who placed. Never stop making art, Bobcats!
