Dancing for Arts Gala

On Friday, Nov. 20, and Saturday Nov. 21, the Center for the Arts hosted their annual “Dancing for the Arts” Gala at the Maryland Golf and Country Club to benefit Center for the Arts. The event was emceed by WJZ Traffic Reporter Kristy Breslin with co-chairs held by Dr. Mary Teddy Wray and Carolyn W. Evans.

Center for the Arts sold tickets to the dress rehearsals for $25 per performance, each being performed twice. The first preview was on Friday, Nov. 20, at 7 pm followed by a matinee performance held on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 2 pm. Tickets for the Gala were sold at $185, and the event, held from 6:30 to 11:30 pm, was a great success, with tickets completely selling out.

The goal of Dancing for the Arts is to raise enough money to open “a center in Harford County, accessible to all, to nurture art, artists and community by providing a broad range of creative and collaborative experiences in music, dance, theater, and the visual, traditional, and literary arts,” according to the CFA’s website.

Performing were the Maryland School of Ballet and Modern Dance.  Also included in the ticket were a live and silent auction, a top shelf open bar, dinner, and dessert.  Among the audience were available sponsors for the event.

Events like these are great providers of funds for community centers, like Harford County’s future Center for the Arts.
