Viral:

  • Pope Francis: Jorge Mario Bergoglio … he’s not just our Pope Francis, he’s the oldest progressive rock star out there! (Save for maybe the remaining active members of Pink Floyd.) Over our break, his debut album “Wake Up” was officially released. However, don’t expect the Bishop of Rome himself to be dropping lines like #popebars suggested, nor rocking out on electric guitars and gazing at effect pedals over his white robes. The album consists of recordings of speeches and prayers given during his papacy set to the music of various Italian musicians and orchestral directors.
  • Stone Temple Pilots: Disappointing news for fans of 1990s alternative rock, Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots was found dead on his tour bus on the night of Thursday, Dec. 3. The incident occurred right before he was set to play with his band The Wildabouts. Details about his death are not yet known, but will likely come to light shortly as investigation continues.
  • Coldplay: It was announced that British rock band Coldplay will be the headliner for the 2016 Superbowl halftime show. This news came right on the heels of the release of their seventh album, A Head Full of Dreams.
