On Oct. 5 and Oct. 8, students from the National Art Honors Society painted the town pink on the windows of businesses in Bel Air to spread breast cancer awareness.

Bel Air worked with the Bel Air town alliance to pick businesses such as Flavor Cupcake, Howard Bank, Woken fuss, Jaded Bean, Loony’s, Two Sisters Gallery, and Charm City Run.

This has been an annual event for 5 or 6 years to create awareness for the same cause.  All businesses have the opportunity to make donations that go to Upper Chesapeake Hospital for breast cancer.

Mrs. Ballard said, “One in eight women are diagnosed with breast cancer, as it’s the top cancer for females.”

The president of National Art Honors Society, Melissa Baum, helped the students in painting various designs.

Mrs. Ballard proudly stated, “Students and I are passionate about the cause. We work very hard to fit this event into our schedule.”

The National Art Honors Society made posters to hand out to the businesses who did not participate in the initial window painting.  Help your fellow Bobcats in spreading the word about breast cancer, and wear your pink throughout October, breast cancer awareness month!
