Dynamic Performers Accents Music Students

On Thursday, November 21st Dynamic Performers, consisting of Tri-M members as well as other music students, gathered after school to go to Rock Spring Village Nursing Home in Forest Hill to perform pieces. Students were allowed to perform in solos, duos or trios. Dynamic Performers happens throughout the year; Tri-M members are required to participate once a semester. Tri-M members Austin Sbarra, Sam Bittle and Lauren Fisher as well as music student Ben Rynes performed on Thursday for the residents at Rock Spring.

Lauren Fisher said, “Performing there is a nice way to finally get to show somebody the pieces that you work hard on, without all the stress of a normal performance, because the people there enjoy it no matter how many mistakes you make.”

Dynamic Performers do not exclusively perform at Rock Spring every time; they perform at other nursing homes as well. This allows students to get a break from performing daily for teachers or parents.

Lauren also said, “It’s a great feeling when you walk into a room to play for these people, and on your way out when they thank you for making their day, it reminds you why you spend hours practicing.”

The students were allowed to choose the pieces that they wanted to perform for everyone. A parent of one of the performing students drove all of the musicians over to Rock Spring. “We got a few people to sign up, all with a few songs. When we got there everyone who wanted to listen sat in a room and one by one the performers went into the room and performed all their songs.” Lauren explained.

On Thursday, December 12th another group of Tri-M members and music students will be participating in Dynamic Performers. All music students and Tri-M members are welcome to perform.
