Harford Ballet Company Presents The Nutcracker

On Saturday, December 15th at 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm the Harford Ballet Company will be performing the Nutcracker in the Aberdeen High School Auditorium.

Ticket prices vary depending on your seating.  Gold seating is $23, silver seating is $20, and bronze seating is $17.  Remaining tickets will be sold at the door for $25 each.  You can also order your tickets at http://www.harfordballetcompany.org/nutcracker-2012 .  If you would like to see the Nutcracker buy tickets soon because there aren’t many left.

The dancers and instructors have been rehearsing since the middle of September in order to prepare for the show.  Costumes and props have been made and fixed, the stage has been booked and prepared, and tickets have been advertised and sold.  Also, two dancers from the New York City Ballet have been hired to perform the roles of Sugar Plum and her Cavalier.

“Baltimore and Harford County don’t often see dancers that good and that accomplished coming to perform at Aberdeen High School, and they really are stars!” Artistic Director Barclay Gibbs said while referring to the New York City Ballet dancers.

Company Manager, Kait Weber said, “You should arrive at the theater about 15 minutes early to get your tickets and take your seat.” Also it is considered rude to “hoot and holler” in a ballet and to get up during a dance. So stay in your seat. Even during the seven minute long Waltz of the Flowers.

Performing this show is really important to the dancers.  The dancers are all students who put a great amount of time and energy into their dancing on top of homework and other activities.  They practice many hours a day to prepare for the show and it’s great to see the end result.

Natalie Lynn, a dancer of five years with the Harford Ballet Company is very excited about the show.  She said, “I am looking forward to seeing everyone together, excited and happy.  Also, to dance on the stage and feel complete happiness; it’s an amazing feeling.”

Following the performance of The Nutcracker, there will be a tea party open to audience members who buy their tickets in advance.  At the tea party, there will be coffee donated by Starbucks, and tea donated by a local tea vender for all to enjoy. Also, the guests have the opportunity to meet, take photos, and to get autographs from the characters. The tea party tickets are sold for $7 each, but they will not be sold at the door.  Don’t miss this special event, and get your tickets now at http://www.danceconservatoryofmd.com/index.htm . Be sure to get them soon, or they will be sold out!
