On Monday, Oct. 13 and Tuesday, Oct. 14, National Art Honor Society members took to the streets of Bel Air to paint their own original designs on shop windows for “Paint the Town Pink”, an annual event that raises awareness for breast cancer research.

“Paint the Town Pink” is part of a community, month long event that involves multiple businesses and restaurants within downtown Bel Air offering discounts or specials all throughout October to help support breast cancer research. NAHS participated in the event last year as well and were ecstatic when they learned that they would be able to do it again this year.

The students began working right after school let out on their respective days in order to make sure they had a solid amount of time to devote to their design. Mrs. Ballard provided the supplies, as well as supervised the event with the parents of a few of the members.

Senior and President of NAHS, Aly Topscher, commented, “Seeing the great designs everyone came up with painted on shop windows on Main Street is awesome. Each member worked very hard on their designs and the businesses were very kind in letting us do this again.”

The next time you’re on Main Street, make sure to be on the lookout for the National Art Honor Society’s window designs!
