A Quick Message to The Class of 2017

Rachel Meyers

Now that the new year has finally started, the senior class of 2017 has a lot to look forward to that will be coming up within the next couple of months, including prom, graduation, and applying/getting accepted into colleges!

Since prom is right around the corner, the stress will finally come about for everyone, especially for all the girls out there. Finding a dress is probably one of the most difficult decisions to be made for me, and I’m sure for a lot of others as well. Making sure you find the right color, and most importantly, making sure the dress fits properly! Since I am picky with my attire, this is going to be a tough hunt for me.

And what everyone has been waiting years for, graduation! This is supposed to be one of the most exciting things that will happen. You’re moving on to new beginnings and basically starting your whole life. Making decisions regarding your career, and what you plan to do. The most important thing you will deal with is figuring out what and who you want to be for the future ahead.

After high school, college is the final big step into becoming what you want to be.  Picking a college is a very important part of pursuing a higher education if that is a part of your plan. If you are certain this is what you want to do, there are plenty of universities out there that you may be interested in.

If you aren’t 100% sure on what you want to do, you still have time to figure it out. I would recommend going to a community college, so you aren’t spending as much money since you don’t know exactly what you want with your life yet. Ask grownups around you what jobs they have, participate in different activities in your community, and take a different selection of classes to help you decide.

College is a great opportunity, and could be a fun experience as well. You shouldn’t sweat whether or not you know exactly what you want to do with your life. There is still plenty of time to figure it out and no need to rush.
