Around the world, there are interesting and delicious treats that use ingredients that are both common and unique to candy here in the United States.

Here are some candies for around the world that are sure to satisfy your craving for something adventurous to eat:

  • Botan Rice candies are small chewable rice candies with a sight citrus taste. The unusual thing about the candies is their double wrapper, which consist of both a plastic, non-edible casing and a thin, edible, rice-paper covering. Inside each individual box, consumers can expect to find a small children’s sticker from Japan and six of the candies. Currently, the candy only comes in one flavor.

  • Pocky is a crunchy candy made from a wafer stick dipped in various coatings of icing flavors such as strawberry, chocolate, and cookies and crème. Savory sticks such as pizza, corn, and Tom Yam have also been released to the public under the name Pretz. The candy was originally released by the Japanese candy making company Ezaki Glico in 1966, with their original flavor being a vanilla flavored biscuit coated in milk chocolate icing. Since its release, countless variations of the candy have been produced by the company.

  • Hi-Chew is a chewable, taffy-like candy with a subtle fruit flavor that was created by Morinaga and Company in 1975. The candy has an extremely chewy, gum-like texture and can be enjoyed for a long period of time. In America, three varieties of the candy are now being distributed: Hi-chew Bites, original Hi-chews, and sour Hi-chews.

  • Ramune Sodas are thin, fruit sodas that have a small glass marble in the top of bottle. The marbles, that are securely contained within the drink, act as a cap of sorts, that must be pressed into the bottle before you able to drink it. Today, the soft drink is distributed by Nishimoto Trading Company and Sangaria U.S.A Incorporated with countless flavors being sold worldwide each year.

  • Ting Ting Jahe ginger candies are small, chewable taffy candies that taste exactly like raw ginger. The candies are made in Indonesia and have a strong flavor that is sure to wake-up any consumer with a single chew.
