Harford County Public Library Announces $100,000 Pledge

During the annual Library Gala held on Nov. 1 at the Abingdon Library, Harford County Public Library CEO Mary Hastler announced a $100,000 pledge from Schooner Cove from APG Federal Credit Union.

A Gala event is a social occasion with special entertainments or performances. In this case, the theme of the Gala was “The Grand Tour: An Evening in the Stacks.”

The money will be going into the children’s department of the new Havre de Grace Library. The department will we renamed Schooner Cove, and will provide innovative and interactive experiences and pretend play for children from infancy to 5 years of age.

Mary Hastler stated, “APG Federal Credit Union is a tremendous company with a strong focus on community involvement and early education.”

The purpose of the $100,000 pledge is to build the financial health of our community by providing financial education for our neighbors of all ages. All proceeds from the recent Gala will go towards the brand new children’s department renovation of the library.

“We are thrilled to expand our relationship with APG Federal Credit union,” said Hastler.

The new $100,000 pledge will be put to good use in the community by aiding the Harford County Public Library system to help improve child education.
