Swim Team Takes Championship

On Tuesday, Feb. 7, the Boys’ Swimming Team placed third, out of the ten teams that competed in the HCPS Swimming Championships, with a combined score of 567.

The championship started with the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Robert Powell, Micah Ernest, Ryan St. Pierre, and Zachery Hricz took second with scores of 29.94 and 25.47.

In the 21st event, Xavier Kane, who also hit a PR, took first in the Boys’ 100 Yard Breast. He finished with a score of 1:04.46.

“Not only did people work hard, there were many PR’s and a first-place finish in an individual event,” says Coach Ms. McDonough.

Overall the boys finished with a combined score of 261.

“Xavier Kane did an amazing job tonight finishing his race strong with complete control of his stroke as well as his competition.” McDonough states. “He was completely focused on the finish from the moment he entered the water.”

On Wednesday, Feb. 8, the Girls’ Swimming Team placed second in the HCPS Swimming Championships.

The girls placed first in multiple events, including the 200 Yard Free Relay, 100 Yard Breast, and 200 Yard Free.

The most stunning event was the 100 Yard Breast in which Eliza Cohen furiously swam a 32.24 and 38.80 (1:11.04 combined score).

“The ladies worked very hard, we hit a few road blocks along the way but the swimming from each one of the ladies was amazing from start to finish.” McDonough says. “Again, there were many PR’s swam this evening and we saw why BA Swimming is some of the best in the county. The ladies have a lot to be proud of.”

Overall the girls finished with a combined score of 306.

“Eliza Cohen had another incredible night in the pool. She really finished strong in all her events,” McDonough comments. “She opened up the lead on her relays and pushed herself to be the best in the pool.”

The Bobcats’ Swimming Team played amazing and everyone left everything they had in the pool that evening.
