On Friday, Feb. 3, the Bel Air Varsity Ice Hockey Team hosted the South River Seahawks.

This game was a must-win for the Bobcats in order to make the playoffs. In the first period, it was all South River as they dominated the ice, putting up five goals in just the first period.

In the second period, the Seahawks added one more to the scoreboard, putting them up by six. Bel Air responded late in the second from senior Josh Webster, who scored off a breakaway that went five hole.

“In our biggest game of the season, we don’t show up to play and South River dominated us.” Junior Aaron Strader states.

South River added one more goal in the third period to put them up 7-1 and eliminate the Bobcats from playoff considerations. The Bobcats finished the year with a record of 3-5-2.

“It was a fun season,” Strader says. “Definitely not our best, but hopefully we will be better next year.”

After falling to 8th place this season, the Bobcats look to bounce back in the 2017-2018 season.
