On Tuesday, Jan. 10, the Bel Air Bobcats fell to the Fallston Cougars at home 73-71.

It was a shooting slump that plagued the Bobcats in the early goings of the game, as they failed to make a field goal throughout the whole first quarter while Fallston was shooting lights out. After being down 18-3 at the end of the first quarter, the Bobcats began to chip away at the Cougar lead in the second. Every time the Cats would draw near, Fallston senior Dylan Wolff would make a few buckets to ensure his team’s advantage. The Cats trailed by double digits at the half.

The second half started off well for Bel Air, as they cut the deficit to single digits on multiple digits on multiple occasions. But Wolff and the Cougars had a response to everything the Bobcats threw at them. Senior Jon Scott led the way offensively yet again for Bel Air, recording 18 points and three assists through just three quarters. Devin Anderson was also a key contributor on the defensive side of the floor. Despite the Cats late run, Wolff’s 32 points proved to be too much for Bel Air.

“It’s really frustrating when you get good shots and the ball simply doesn’t go in,” says senior Jon Scott. “Wolff is obviously a great player who can shoot extremely well. I am very excited to play them again.”

This loss makes things very interesting in the early stages of the Susquehanna League. Bel Air, Fallston, North Harford and Havre De Grace all have at least one loss in the conference. The competition in the lower league of Harford County basketball is very much alive this season.

“We didn’t start out strong in the first quarter and ended up digging ourselves a hole by the end of it. We got all the shot attempts we wanted but they just didn’t fall.” Head Coach Alex Darko states. “Our free throw percentage didn’t make up for that. You can’t struggle in those two categories. We’re a much better team than that. We appreciate the students that come out to support. It really means a lot. Please come out Friday to support the team. Bobcat Nation!!”
