On Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, the Bel Air Girls’ Varsity Soccer team played at home against John Carroll.

The close, back-and-forth game between Bel Air and John Carroll ended in the first half with the teams tied 1-1 and ready to play the second half.

The Lady Cats started off strong with a 2-1 lead to start off the second half. The goal was scored by sophomore forward Autumn Dougherty.

“It was very exciting and I felt like it helped change the game around and get us focused and motivated.” Says Dougherty.

John Carroll came back hard, scoring a goal and tying the game 2-2.

Bel Air junior forward Lexi Kraemer managed to bring the team up another point, making the score 3-2 Bobcats. John Carrol scored another goal in response, tying the game 3-3 and pushing the game into overtime.

“Having a hat trick is always a great feeling,” Says Kraemer, “but knowing we beat John Carroll is even better.”

Two minutes left in the first half of overtime, Kraemer scored the winning goal. The night ended with the Bel Air team running onto the field in celebration.

Bel Air continues this season with an 8-3-1 status.

The Bobcats next game will be their senior night at home on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 6:45 p.m. against Perryville High School.
