In the fourth round, the ‘Cats hosted the Howard Lions. Sophomore Liam Bowers hit a 2 run RBI double in the 3-0 victory and would later score from an RBI by Junior Michael Yetter in the bottom of the third.

In order to go to states, the Bobcats had to beat the Bowie Bulldogs and that’s exactly what they did. With an explosive sixth inning, the Bobcats put up 5 runs to help them defeat the Bulldogs by a final score of 8-0!

“We worked hard and played every game like it was our last and that’s what helped us reach the State Finals!” said senior member of the team, Andrew Cotton.

The Bobcats traveled to College Park to face the Quince Orchard Cougars in the State Finals. The Bobcats struck first, Luke Beyers hitting a sacrifice Fly RBI to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the third, senior Jack Radcliffe hit an RBI single to extend their lead to 2-0. Quince Orchard started to come alive in the top of the fourth as senior Nick Moon ripped an RBI double into right field to cut the deficit back down to 1.

The Bobcats dominated in the sixth inning after sophomore Liam Bowers stepped up to the plate. With the bases loaded, Bowers slapped a 3 run RBI double into center field to give the ‘Cats a score of 5-1. Jack Jenkens stepped up next to deliver an RBI double sending home Liam Bowers. Luke Beyers also joined in on the fun in the sixth as he hit a 2 run RBI single to give the ‘Cats a commanding lead of 8-1. In the top of the seventh, the ‘Cats got the 3 outs and won states. The Bobcat Nation’s student section was roaring!

“Being able to go out on top was more than any of us could’ve asked for,” Andrew continues, “Especially for the seniors – it was such a cool feeling. Our fans were also amazing on Friday! They couldn’t have been louder!”

Congrats to the Boys’ Varsity Baseball team on a tremendous season!
