On Monday, May 9, Seniors Douglas and Paige Naumann defeated Patterson Mill 6-0 and 6-1 in the Mixed Doubles County Championship. Going onto the regional level, Douglas and Paige have the first seed for the tournament.

The Bel Air Varsity Tennis team also had other participants who came up strong to help be successful in this tournament. Junior Yasmine Saikali came in second place in the Girls’ Singles tournament. Juniors Jacob Rannie and David Moore defeated C. Milton Wright 7-6, 5-7, and 6-2 in the third place match for the Boys’ Doubles. Juniors Donna Nguyen and Nick Wong will be playing as a Mixed Doubles team in the Regional Tournament, as well as Evan Kern and Nick Sulzbach, for the Boys’ Doubles team.

Coach Restrick said, “I am so proud of the way we all played in the UCBAC tournament. It can be tough in a tournament because the draws are random, so sometimes you get an unlucky draw, but every player gave their best and I am looking forward to seeing how we do in the regional tournament.”

Regionals will be held on Saturday, May 14, and Monday, May 16 at Harford Community College.
