Tennis Team Loses to North Harford by One Point

On Monday, April 18, the Varsity Tennis team took a hard loss to North Harford. The final score was 5-6, Hawks.

Starting off, the Boys Singles struggled to win. Bel Air lost all three of their singles matches. However, trying to get the momentum back up, the Bel Air girls’ were 3-0 for Girls Singles. Senior Paige Naumann defeated her opponent 6-0 and 6-1. Junior Yasmine Saikali won her match 6-1 and 6-3. Finally, Kirstin Tran was successful in her match and won 6-1 and 6-2.

The Varsity Head Coach, Tyler Restrick was quoted on his reaction to the loss, “We had a difficult loss today. After beating North Harford earlier in the season, you hope you can have the same result, however we couldn’t win our key points.”

Bel Air took losses in Mixed Doubles and Girls Doubles, but was relentless in their fight to win. Bel Air had two Boys Doubles team that won. On one team was Douglas Naumann and Jacob Rannie. They won their match with scores 7-5 and 6-2. On the other team was Nick Sulzbach and Evan Kern. They won their match with scores 6-3 and 6-4. Although the team was giving their best effort, in the end they came out losing with a final of 5-6.

Coach Restrick stated, “I am confident our team can learn from this loss and bounce back in our remaining three matches.”

The Varsity Tennis team has two games left. On Monday, April 25, they will travel to Fallston and compete against the Cougars. Then, their final game will be a home game on April 27 against the Rising Sun Tigers.
