Girls’ Volleyball Defeats Parkville in First Playoffs

On Thursday, Nov. 5, the Bel Air Girls’ Varsity Volleyball team defeated the Parkville Knights 3-0. They won 25-17, 25-13 and 25-9. This game was the 4A North Section Quarterfinal, Section 1.

Bel Air was led by Seniors Julie Bernoski, Lena Sierocinski, Mary Snow, and Juniors Bethany Ingram, Konnor Ashley Randlett, Sam Dutcher, and Shannen Hanney.  The score of set one was 25-17. Setter Julie Bernoski had over 16 assists and 12 aces. Middle Hitter Mary Snow, contributed 5 blocks while Junior Bethany Ingram contributed three. Set two had a final score of 25-13. In this set Lena Sierocinski and Savannah Meyers both added over 10 kills and 5 blocks. Bel Air made few errors and played great defense.

Freshman and Opposite Hitter Megan Hoy said after the game: “Before the game started, I was really nervous, but once you get in there and hear your team cheering, the game goes by so quickly.”

The last set of the match had a final score of 25-9. Bel Air played an amazing third set. Leading them with over 10 consecutive serves was Junior Sam Dutcher. Juniors Shannen Hanney and Konnor-Ashley Randlett ended the set by serving aces and playing great back-row defense by being aggressive at the net.

The Bel Air Girls’ Varsity has played an amazing season. Until next year, Bobcats!
