Girls’ Volleyball Wins Last Game of the Season

On Oct. 26, the Varsity Girls’ Volleyball Team won their last regular game of the season against the Harford Tech Cobras. The final score was 3-0, Bel Air. The final score of the sets were 25-22, Bel Air, 25-19, Bel Air, and the final set 25-21, Bel Air.

“Walking into the gym and seeing all the posters was such a bittersweet feeling. I was so excited that it was finally senior night, but after walking onto the court, it made me sad knowing my final season was coming to an end,” said Senior Captain Savannah Meyers.

The gym was decorated with streamers and balloons, followed by a welcoming introduction of the seniors, escorted by their family. The game began starting all six seniors on the court. Court captain and setter Julie Bernoski had a great game contributing over 14 assists and 5 aces. Captain and middle hitter, Lena Sierocinski had 3 blocks and 4 aces. Captain and outside hitter Savannah Meyers contributed over 8 kills and 3 blocks. Senior, back row, Briana Karayinopulos hustled and contributed over 9 digs to keep the rally alive, as well as 2 blocks. Senior middle hitter, Mary Snow, had over 5 blocks and 4 kills. Senior, opposite hitter Cheyenne Burchette, gave 1 kill and 3 aces and played great defense. The seniors had a great first set with a final score of 25-22.

The second set had a final score of 25-19. Bethany Ingram and Sam Dutcher, both outside hitters, had a great game adding up to 10 kills and 5 blocks. Lena Sierocinski and Mary Snow both had 15 collective kills. Megan Hoy had 2 good digs and consistent serves to keep Bel Air’s lead.

The third set was again, all seniors with exception of junior, Lindsey Echtermeyer, who subbed in back row. The third set had back and forth rallies, with a close final score of 25-21.The team of seniors on the floor collectively had over 10 aces, 6 kills and 6 assists.

“Senior night was an absolute success. The night was unforgettable and I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped out!” said Senior Captain Lena Sierocinski after the game.

With the regular season over, the Varsity Girls’ Volleyball team has a 6-8 record. Their first playoff game is a home game starting at 5 p.m. against the Parkville Knights on Nov. 11.
