Bobcats Take Down the Cougars

Monday, Oct. 5, the Bel Air Girls’ Varsity Volleyball team defeated the Fallston Cougars 3-1. The final scores ended up being 16-25 Fallston, 25-22 Bel Air, 25-18 Bel Air and the fourth set, 25-23, Bel Air on top. After falling to the Cougars previously, Bel Air returned with a vengeance, redeeming themselves with a win.

In the first set, Bel Air fell to Fallston with a score of 16-25. The second set, Bel Air returned to the court fired up, winning with a final score of 25-22. Lena Sierocinski and Mary Snow contributed key blocks, together contributing over 12 blocks. Julie Bernoski and Briana Karayinopulos had multiple aces, keeping a consistent momentum.

Set three flew by with a final score of 25-18, Bel Air. Megan Hoy, Bethany Ingram and Sarah Strawbridge all made smart plays racking up the points and increasing the lead. The final set’s score was 25-23, Bel Air.

After the game, senior and middle hitter Mary Snow said “I’m really glad we beat them. Our team was motivated, and we play so much better when our attitude is positive, it truly makes a difference. Game by game we are making a comeback.”

To begin the second half of the season, the girls’ volleyball team has their next game at home on Wednesday, Oct. 8, against the Perryville Panthers. JV at 3:30 and Varsity at 5 p.m.
