Varsity Softball Gains Three Wins to Start Off Season

The Girls’ Varsity Softball team gained their couple of wins to start off the season starting with the first game against the Rising Sun Tigers. The ladies got their second win of the season against Southern High School and the most recent win against the John Carroll Patriots.

Bel Air defeated Rising Sun 10-0 in 5 innings. A key player was Rayn Gibson, who had 10 strike outs. Runs by inning: 2 in the 1st, 4 in the 3rd, 3 in the 4th, and 1 in the 5th.

Bel Air had a strong hitting game with key players Rayn Gibson (3 for 3, 2 singles, 1 triple, 3 RBI), Leah Lozzi (HP, double, triple scored 3 runs), Gwen Markowski (RBI triple, scored 2 runs), Erin Pugh (2 for 3 scored 1 run, 1 RBI), Brianna MacCubbin (2 for 3 hits), and Sarah Fleishmann (double).

The second game against Southern was another five inning game with a final score of 11-0.

The third game was against the Patriots of John Carroll with a final score 5-1.

“All of the games have been good team wins and it will be a good year for our bats. We can gel as a team for defense, I think it will be a great season,” said Junior Captain and Pitcher, Rayn Gibson.
