Boys’ Lacrosse Falls After Competitive Game to Fallston

On April 1, Bel Air Boys’ Lacrosse team took the field against cross town rivals the Fallston Cougars. In a very competitive game, the Bobcats fell 12-9.

The game started off quickly as Senior Cougar Nick Esser scored before the two minute mark. Not long after that, Bel Air Captain Thomas Pfieffer put one in the back of the cage to tie. The game followed a similar pattern for the rest of the time with one team scoring, followed quickly by the other. The Bobcats seemed to have the advantage, going up 5-3 at the end of the first quarter from a goal by Senior David Lotz, who scored 2 more goals and added an assist to his already strong season. The Cougars came back fighting in the second quarter, tying the game up at 7 before the end of the half.

In the second half, the ‘Cats came out strong, winning the face off and scoring a quick goal. The Cougars stayed in the game and answered back on multiple man-up situations. The Bobcats played a slight majority of the rest of the game, man-down, with many penalties.

“We can’t blame the penalties for the loss, but they certainly didn’t help us,” said Senior Jason Dinsmore. “We can’t score goals without the ball, and we can’t get the ball when we’re man down.”

Bel Air stayed in command on the face off, winning over 50% of them for the game. However, the scoring slowed down until a 4-0 run by Fallston in the final quarter to send them to their 12-9 victory.

“Hats off to Fallston, but this game is just another reason to work harder,” said Junior Defender Tommy Symalla. “That game humbled us, but we learn from our mistakes and we’re ready for the next one.”
