The Varsity Girls’ Basketball team had a great overall season. Their playoff game was against the Aberdeen Eagles. This was a close game and the Lady Cats’ had a lead throughout the second quarter with a score of 25-22.

Key offensive plays were contributed by Renie Tsomos, Julie Bernoski Anna Putnam, and Mariah Thomas. Key defensive plays were made by Natalie Neff, Catia Johnson, Kayla Klock, Anna Wehland, and Rebekah Riley.  Rebounds and running the plays were a key factor to stay in the game the first half. The game was an all-around team game, everyone was hustling making sure their last game was one to remember.

“I know that we definitely left everything we had on the court and I could not be more proud of my team, not just this game, but all season,” said Senior Captain Renie Tsomos.

Even though the record may not have been the best out there, it does show the progress and team chemistry the Bel Air girls’ had on the team. From the beginning of the season, they knew that they had a lot of work to put into the season and it has shown. This year’s team had young players, but their progress on offense has improved tremendously. Defense and chemistry was something the team was very proud of and accomplished well throughout all of the season.

“This is by far the best team that I have been a part of, and we had one heck of a season. I’m so proud of my team and wouldn’t trade this experience for anything,” stated Coach Skelton.

The seniors will be missed, but will go off and do great things throughout their years in college and the juniors are ready to step up and show leadership just like the seniors this year did.
