Bobcat Wrestling Defeats Mustangs and Warriors in Tri-Meet

On Wednesday Jan. 7, 2015 the wrestling team hosted the C. Milton Wright Mustangs and the Havre de Grace Warriors in a tri-meet which resulted in two Bobcat wins.

The Bobcats wrestled the Warriors of Havre de Grace in their first match and would shut out the Warriors with a score of 80-0. The match started with three forfeits in favor of the Bobcats to add 18 points to the team score to make the score 18-0. The Bobcats would go on to win the rest of the matches. A total of seven pins were awarded in the 80-0 win over the Warriors with pins coming from Freshman Liam Bowers, Sophomore Sam Queen, Juniors Tyler Ham and Trevor Proctor and Seniors Dalton Foster, Micah Hunter-Goski and Captain Brady Stafford. The Bobcats also had two wrestlers’ add 4 points in the match coming from Sophomore Scott Miser and Senior Captain David Reagan. To add to the beginning three forfeits the Bobcats added another 12 points due to forfeits throughout the match. The Bobcats would shutout the Warriors with a score of 80-0.

“It was really hard coming back from a big break without wrestling,” stated Senior Captain Cam Watts, “but I believe that we stepped up our game and did what was needed to be done which was to win.”

After a little break, the Bobcats would wrestle the C. Milton Wright Mustangs and only allowed the Mustangs to score nine team points ending the match with the score of 65-9. The Bobcats would start the match with four straight pins coming from Sophomore Cody Seibel, Junior Tyler Ham and Seniors Dalton Foster and Captain David Reagan. Senior Captain Brady Stafford would add five points to the team score when he earned a technical fall against his opponent. The Bobcats would then win the next five, three of the wins were decided by pin. The pins came from Freshman Liam Bowers, Sophomore Scott Miser and Junior Trevor Proctor. Seniors Micah Hunter-Goski and Captain Cam Watts would add three to the team score as well. The Mustangs would then win two matches and in exchange the Bobcat would earn six points due to Mustang forfeits. The final score would be 65-9 in favor of the Bobcats.

“After the long holiday break, I expected our team to be a little out of shape but with a score of 80-0 in our first match they proved me wrong. We did spectacular and I intend to continue fulfilling our potential.” said Senior Captain Brady Stafford.

The Bobcats move to 12-1 on the season and will be back in action this weekend, Friday Jan. 9, 2014 and Saturday Jan. 10, 2014, at the C. Milton Wright Dual Tournament.
