Football Advances to Playoffs

On Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, the Bel Air Bobcats defeated one of their biggest rivals, the Fallston Cougars, by a close score of 21-19.

The game was a hard fought battle between two playoff teams that came down to a last second stop by the Bobcats to give Bel Air the victory.

The game started off when running back Senior Devin Bowers pushed his way over the goal line behind the blocks of his offensive lineman.

“It felt great to get on the board early. It was something we had talked about all during the week in practice, starting off strong. It was great to see the hard work we put in during practice pay off in the game,” said Bowers.

The Bobcats defense also played a crucial role in the game holding the Cougars to only 19 points and forcing multiple turnovers.

“It was a great effort all around from the defense. We held them to 19 points and came up with a big stop at the end of the game to help get the team the win,” said Senior Kyle Hamrick.

With this win the Bobcats advance to the state playoffs for the first time in 10 years. This is a great accomplishment that the Bobcats have been aiming to achieve since the off season.

“I wouldn’t have wanted the regular season to end any other way: a great game with fallston that pushes us into the playoffs with a 9 and 1 record. This victory really meant a great deal to the team to finally beat them, but it was an awesome feeling to do it alongside Coach Huryk,” said Senior Brendan Yetter. “We have another tough game this Friday against Aberdeen; I really feel like we are hitting our peak at the perfect time entering playoffs. After a hard week of practice, I think we should take care of our unfinished business with Aberdeen.”

The Bobcats 11th game of the season will be played away at Aberdeen at 7 p.m. on Nov. 14. Come out and support. Go Bobcats!
