Boys’ Soccer Says Goodbye to Fantastic Season

Jackson Struve

On Friday, Oct. 31, the Bel Air Bobcats Boys’ Soccer team hosted the C. Milton Wright Mustangs in an intense County rival match up for the Regional championship of Harford County. The first 10 minutes consisted of a mainly defensive period for the Bobcats as C. Milton was pushing all offenders into the heart of the Bobcats defense led by Captain Evan Reinhardt.

About 8 minutes in, Bel Air fell behind off a beautiful shot from outside the 18, creating pressure for the Bobcats offense to produce. After a few substitutions to get fresh legs into the game the Bobcats began pushing the ball into the Mustangs defense, Bel Air was able to take advantage of a corner kick by Alex Munley to Evan Reinhardt to knock in the equalizer 26 minutes in.

All defense the second half kept the score at 1 all and the game eventually headed into overtime. 10 minutes of golden ball began and these two teams held nothing back. After a few questionable calls, the Mustangs were eventually awarded a free kick right outside the 18, and after a few unlucky touches the Mustangs were able to knock in the game winning goal ending the score at 2-1.

Another fantastic season for the Bel Air Varsity soccer team ended by a County rival for the 3rd year in a row in regionals. Congratulations to Coach Dom Rose and the seniors who won’t be returning next year on a fantastic season.
