The Field Hockey team concluded their season with an 8-4 record and have earned a first round bye. The Lady ‘Cats began post-season play when they hosted the visiting Aberdeen Eagles on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014 in the second round of playoffs.

The Bobcats dominated the time of possession during the first half, tallying five goals from five different scorers. Junior Mimi Salters and Seniors Olivia Auer, Katie Bowling, and Judy Yurkofsky all tallied one goal for the Bobcats. Sophomore Anna Farley and Senior Carolyn Todd both added a tally to the stat sheet with one assist coming from both players in the first half. The score going into half time stayed the same at 4-0.

“We came out very hard and very strong,” stated Captain Morgan Domanico. “Aberdeen really left it all out there, but we had control for most of the game and we used that to our advantage.”

Starting the second half, the Bobcats once again came out strong and scored another five goals on top of the previous five scored in the first half. This time the goals came from Juniors Emma Chmielewski and Mimi Salters, Salters tallying two in the second half, and Seniors Olivia Auer and Lauren Fisher, Fisher tallying two as well. Sophomore Farley and Seniors Alissa Gill and Todd would all assist a goal scorer in the second half. Time ticked away, ending with a Bobcat victory, 10-0 over the Eagles.

“We played really well today, implementing what we need to advance to the next round of playoffs,” stated Senior Captain Judy Yurkofsky

The Bobcat defense was standout by not allowing the Eagles to get a single shot on the goalies, Domanico and Junior Kelbey Egerland.  The defense worked together to force turnovers to come up with the ball and help transition into the Eagle’s defensive zone.

The Bobcats move to 9-4 in the season including Thursday night’s playoff game. They will take on the Hawks of North Harford on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014 at Bobcat Stadium at 6 p.m.
